Hi everyone as some of you know I am looking to eventually get a Linux. This morning been trolling the net checking out availability and prices of Dreambox and Vu.I was amazed at the variation in price, from as little as £36 to £1,250 depending on model and whether it is clone or not. Also most of the dealers contact details are a bit dubious i.e. e.mail only and payment credit card or moneybook to the back of beyond? Anyone got a reliable source in East Midlands? to check out .P S a lot of the dealers were not telling you whether theirs were real or clone, although it was obvious by price .. (trusty old spider still rules at mo!) Cheers...

Re: March of the Clones!
Hi rob it makes you wonder, some of the members on here have had clones for some time with good results.I am thinking maybe quality might not be such an issue, as most boxes are now made in the far east? Possibly source there parts from the same suppliers...Cheers...Comment

Re: March of the Clones!
Usually clones are sold directly from China or some retailer from the UK but you still dont know their address and there will be no telephone support. If something goes wrong with the clones then you will have to send them back to China with a huge postage costs. If Its a UK supplier you send the box to them and then wait for weeks to hear back from them.
If its an original box then you dont worry about many things. You just go to the retailer and replace it there and then.If you like my post, please don't hesitate to click on "Thanks"button. Thank youComment

Re: March of the Clones!
i bought my clone from china, cant fault it, i started with dreambox 500, sold that to a mate. it is a clone and still works fine. i have dbox 800hd pro now and had it for some time. it has the odd crash but only when i try things like ******* plugin, the rest of the time it works fine.
for the difference in price i would recommend clone, originals cost 3 to 4 times as much and do much the same thing, they let you watch tvComment

Re: March of the Clones!
Dreambox is not the only sat box in the world. Vu+ is cheaper and offers the same, if not more features than a dreambox.
Where I live, clone vu+ is not really cheaper (50 euros less). So I decided to go for an original and did not regret.
With dreambox I had to reboot almost twice a day due to lockup and freeze. I can run my vu+ solo for month without a glitch.
For me, it's a big improvement and worth every pennyComment
