European cultural channel ARTE will embark on a trip around the world at the turn of the year 2011/12, broadcasting music concerts, dancing and other events 24 hours nonstop between 31 December and 1 January.
The New Year's Eve special will commence on 31 December 2011 at 14.45 CET with New Caledonia's traditional New Year's dance followed by the "Choir of the 10.000" from Japan (15.20 CET) and a concert by the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra from Tel Aviv (16.25 CET).
At 17.45 CET the live coverage will start with concerts and operas from Leipzig, Dresden and Vianna, followed by a Liza Minelli concert from Basel (21.30 CET). From midnight, "La Fiesta del Tango Argentino" will be transmitted live from Buenos Aires.
The final event will be the live broadcast of the New Year's Concert from Venice on 1 January 2012 at 12.10 CET.
