    Atlantic Bird 7 - 7.3W

    Hi All
Back in November, I did a blind scan on this satellite on my Spiderbox. It brought in 315 transponders with massive signals. Then, I upgraded the firmware and since then cannot pick up anything up on that bird but all others are fine. I am wondering whether this loss was this just a coincidence and the bird cannot be picked up in the UK any more, or whether the change in firmware has affected it. So, can you guys still receive Atlantic Bird 7 here in the UK?

    Thanks for your help.

You say 315 transponders, but I presume you mean channels. I can still receive that bird, but signal quality is very low at times. Better in the evenings. I can't see the firmware being a factor. I'm on the latest.

Yes, channels, sorry. I had great signals all day until the firmware change, now nothing. Maybe the operator discovered that the footprint was much wider than originally planned and therefore refocussed?

BigL. If you were receiving this sat in November you should still be receiving it now. All I can suggest is that you try tweaking your dish.

11227V 27500 is one of the stronger transponders to try.

Thanks, I have tweaked it with no joy. Maybe I will delete the satellite and set it up again.

              Thanks again.

Sounds strange they changed the footprint...what type of channels do they broadcast?

Atlantic bird 7 just recently joined the Nilesat sats at 7W. It can be received in UK with 90cm - 1m dish, unlike the Nilesat ones for which you do need a BIG dish.

Some of the vertical transponders can be received in the UK with a 1m+ dish but personally my reception is worse in the winter months, in the summer I can get a watchable reception.

You should still be able to pick up the Nilesat 101 on a 1m dish in the UK, Its all about your setup dish make, LNB and receiver. I get around 850 channels off the atlantic bird 7 all day long and manage nilesat late in the evening thats on a triax 1.1

No chance in the UK without a dish the size of a swimming pool!
