Yes, thats the one toby. I joined when I first bought my spiderbox, about 18months ago. News of things spiderbox related would often appear there before the other site, and I learned a lot there, but one admin in particular there hadn't much patience with some people. One of the rules there was you had to register your spiderbox serial number with them, so I kept a low profile. It was always in the back of my mind that if I upset them I might be disconnected.

I think they only wanted the serial numbers to try to make sure the forum posts were only made by genuine Spiderbox owners.

However I too hardly posted on there and mainly used it for a source of info.

sounds like it was a very charming and helpful site, glad i diddent bother, its not very good if you just want to bring up a few views an ideas, but to get treated that way, no thanks, you can spend a lot of time trying to help others an then you get p****d off.

I assume that somebody made some money out of selling the Spiderbox, you would have thought that as everything is in place ie. servers, that they would some how keep on supplying the Ethernet connection and find some way of collecting a fee.

have never really got my head around that, the servers that is, some time ago there was something about a fire at there premises when server went down, then a police raid came along with satellite stuff an computers being taken away, and i think as it was only a narrow small shop something was said about expending premises, i personnal think a***t had a deal perhaps with them korean so called developers, who made the box, an added a server for a fixed time as bait to promote an sell the item/items concernered, i think as spiderbox users are leaving in there droves, it wont be long before another item appears, we will wait an see, as for the people buying another spiderbox on the promise for another year i would be very concerned about that idea, once bitten twice shy is the phrase i think in this case.

Thing is Toby things are moving on and I'm thankful that I wasn't left in the dark by buying the latest spiderbox, instead I bought a Protek which up to now has been bloody exellent.

As for the so called Korean developer, I bet he really comes from a country that neighbour's Greece!

hi euro, talking about protek boxes, 9600, 9700ip etc, are they still conecting to a server as i thought about getting one, but i heard which put me off a bit that it was a basic plug an play box an quite expensive, i recall the 9700ip from new £259, out of my range, i was told at a satellite shop once set up not much to do with it, like adding sats etc, the shop i have a suspiction that they have something to do with the server,i get on with them, but no more said about that issue. have not bin sat shop for sometime now, must visit soon see whats new there.

Hi Toby I have a 9750 and yes there are server packages out there starting from about £20. But of course like Spiderbox nothing is guaranteed!

These boxes are really user friendly and easy to set up and have newcamd, the 9750 cost's about £269 but is well worth it.

i used to have 9600ip but sold it and bought a spiderbox. now that it is 18 months old, i was actually thinking of getting the protek hd versions but still very expensive.i thought they'd be less than £200 by now.

Unlike the Spiderbox I can't see them dropping much in price, because of whats avaliable for them!

Yes n/line is definitely more better.

maybe we can start an alsheet thread here. lol. the thing is, i bought a spiderbox because i found 2 foreign channels i wanted to watch that only lasted a few months. can't complain there as most people and moderators would always say there are hundreds of other channels to watch. but it's those 2 channels i wanted in the first place.
with the protek though, the server is still going strong although with a limited package thqt it can open.

I have a great package at the moment which auto updates on the Protek, this can make a sat enthusiast very lazy!
