German pay-TV broadcaster Sky Deutschland will show selected games from Italy's first-division football league Serie A from 18 December 2011.
The new agreement, which has now been concluded, grants Sky the right to pick one match per weekend which will be shown live and exclusively on Sky Sport.
In addition to the screening on television in high-definition (HDTV), Sky also secured the rights for live transmission of the game on the internet and on the iPad and iPhone from Apple. The rights package also comprises editorial coverage of the highlights of all Serie A matches, for example on sports news channel Sky Sport News HD which will launch on 1 December 2011.
The agreement of which financial details have not been disclosed will initially run until the end of the current Serie A season. The first game to be shown by Sky will be Lazio Rom vs Udinese Calcio on 18 December 2011 from 20.40 CET.
