    cables

    i will be installing my brothers motor this weekend, at the mo he is fixed dish system,as he wants to get on more sats. have already moved polar mount to a better position hence cable not long enough and quite old, question is, is the plain jane cable from local diy store adequate or is there better types of cable availible which would improve things?
    p.s. something i always remember might help peeps,
    latitude=north of equator
    longtitude=west of greenwich
    that is if you reside in the northern hemisphere

    Re: cables

    its depending how long there are
    but i would go after a 120db cable
    ordinary cables are often only 80 to 100db

        Re: cables

        Like vimmers said get a decent cable. I had the misfortune of buying some sat cable from my local electrical wholesaler and i actually had real low signal from the dish. As soon as i replaced it with decent cable the signal went to 92% signal quality. The problem with some of the cheap cable is that they are more geared towards tv aerials. I did use some of the cable that virgin media use for their cable tv installs for my sky dish and never had a problem.
