Al Jazeera to launch sports news channel

Al Jazeera Media Network will launch a new dedicated sports news channel, Al Jazeera Sports News, on Tuesday, November 1, at 18.00 Doha time, 15.00 GMT.

The launch of the first Arabic sports news channel in the region coincides with the 15th anniversary of Al Jazeera. The new sports news channel will broadcast hourly news bulletins and 20 sports news programmes that will discuss various types of sports on Nilesat.

The news programmes will cover all the major international tournaments and sports events, especially those exclusive to Al Jazeera Sports, such as the Spanish, the Italian, and the French and the European football leagues. The channel will also feature weekly programmes presenting news about popular sports like basketball, athletics, tennis and motorsports.

Arab sports’ news will have a prominent presence in the new channel. Two programmes will be dedicated for covering major sports events in the Middle East and North Africa. The channel will also follow general and economic sports news in the press, and will provide comprehensive coverage of events that are not transmitted live through a five-hour programme, broadcast on Saturdays and Sundays.

The channel will feature a variety morning show and a daily talk show that will provide in- depth discussion. At the end of the day all news broadcast will be summarised in an hour long programme called Today’s Harvest.

thanks for that antiosat, but already have, but would you know where i could find tv programme guide note (in english) as the ones i have seen are only in arabic.

Does anyone have the footprints for the signal strength/quality for badr, nilesat and arabsat... They are very difficult to lock signal even with a 1.3m dish...

They are for different beams. It is fairly standard for different transponders to appear on different beams and allows some degree of comfort for broadcasters that material cannot be received easily in certain countries.

ohce, thats just what i was looking for, ajs sports show a lot of championship matches live so i can watch my home team lose an lose an lose again

will be in the future, probably paphos united in cyprus when we move, a few years yet thou , anyway also talking about cyprus i have 2 sky dishes with there own supplied lnbs, as these sml sized dishes will be capable of receiving 26e an 7w as strong beam from these sats directly over cyprus would the lnbs be ok or are the manufactured for just using with there own paticular sly boxes, would be a shame to bin

i don't think any lnb's are made to a particular provider

Vimmers is right.

I have used $ky dishes with their supplied LNBs to receive the channels on 9e, 13e and 19e all without problem.

will not be chucking out old sly dishes then, will get plenty more use out of them, its just that a few years ago bumped into a sly installer an he said dishes where only for there boxes, cant trust some peeps then
