The sluggish Portuguese economy caused a slowdown in the uptake of additional broadband and voice services at Zon.
Even so, the cablenet came close to 60% penetration of its triple play services that reached 59.3% by the end of the third quarter, a total of 688,800 subscribers. Basic cable TV increased by 4,600 subscribers, offsetting a decline in the satellite base of 3,100 As of September 30, 2011 there were 1,162,400 basic cable customers and 391,000 DTH subscribers.
Revenues increased by 1% to €213.7 million, achieving EBITDA of €79.6m.
The high-end service IRIS, running on NDS Snowflake, ended the quarter on 70,000 subscribers. This represents an increase of 20,000 subscribers on the quarter, during which Restart TV was added to the featureset.
