It depends how much do you want to spend money and what features you want.
It should be based on Linux?
Write your requirements and together will help you choose the best for you.

I think that DM500HD is the best value for money.
Is as fast as dm800, don't has usb , but save 100E (to dm800) .

If the money isn't problem for you.... buy DM800se or even better DM8000.

lets put it this way for the Overpriced original DM500HD that retails for around £349 here you can get a VU+ Duo or an ET9000 twin tuner receiver.

Thats just my opinion i think all the DM's are highly overated and over priced compared to other boxes.

And please do not let anyone talk you into getting a clone DM yes they are half the price but come with no end of trouble.

I hear the new Eagle box is supposed to be very good for the money.
Its a clone box, based on the DreamBox 800 HD.
rumors its engima based so all the software you would run on your dreambox - should run on the eaglebox 800 HD.
Its currently pre-order, sid to be out this month. October 2011.
Price ive seen around £89.

Linux is the operating system, usually enigma2. This makes it user customisable.

I tend to agree with digicon's comments - for value for money you can't go far wrong with a Vu+ Duo or ET9000.

also ignoring me a little what i can read it has a dvb.s2 tuner so it can take hd channels
i could understand that he wanted a new 1 if the 1 he got couldn't take hd channels

thanks all, for all your help, yes spiderbox i got is hd, and as i have only had this box since febuary must get some use of it, ethernet now seems more stable than previous service+, but also have a newcamd line for sly, so no complaints, like start of thread just keeping options open for the future.
