are you sure the satellite is pointed at 28.2e? 18 years ago we didn't have digital satellite and if the LNB is 18 years old, wouldn't that be an analogue LNB?

and did 28.2e exist 18 years ago?

Digital Receivers need a Universal LNB, and Analogue will have enhanced LNB which I've just learnt from another site.

you can still use the same dish, its just metal. the dish may have moved over the years so it may require re aligning.

LNB's may need to nbe replaced though. Old analogue dishes probably have "enhanced lnb's on the (9750 - 11700MHz coverage).

Digital needs "universal lmb's" on the dish (9750 - 12750MHz coverage)

The problem can be your old LNB doesn't use standard frequencies. New LNB are called universal and they have two LOF 9,750 and 10,600 Ghz. Old LNB was using like LOF 9,750 and 10,750, so before to replace the LNB try to set those frequencies into tuner settings menu. Anyway I suggest to replace LNB and cable from old dish, this will increase your reception quality.
