That's a very open question ! I suppose it depends on your circumstances, cashflow etc, and not least your willingness to learn. Having had numerous boxes over the years since analogue, when I decided to go linux I bought a dm5oo clone coz it was cheap and if I had bricked it, would not have been the end of the world. It took a long time and a lot of reading to get to grips with it, and then after much deliberation I went for thw VU plus.More than satisfied with that. If that is out of your price range there is the solo and other cheap linux boxes from Technomate, Openbox etc. Take the plunge, you'll be glad you did. Hope that helps. -
Re: best box
vu boxes are good but i would say still at the moment dreamboxes are best supported but like i said at this moment and are probably the cheapest if you buy as clone i have had a dreambox 800hd clone for over 18months it a great box and have had no isues with it i am sure you will get many complaints about dreamboxes as ther is a lot more out thereComment

Re: best box
As for support, yep another patch recently and updates of the softcams will make this box desirable for some time to come, particularly for those like me who haven't got the time messing about with settings like the Dreamboxes for programming. Wreaks of effort. I've had one, but too much messing about.
With the Spiderbox, it's downloading the patch, channel list and softcam, stick it on a USB stick, pop into the receiver and update. Couldn't be easier.Unlike Alshat you can speak here freely about Spiderbox!Comment

Re: best box
I've been in York last week and catching up with the missus and kids this weekend so the Spiderbox has been a bit neglected. I used it last night after the boxing and to be honest although the two lines showed as connected got very little out of them. I tried various channel and says and gave up after half an hour. I have them for three months and hand on heart that if it doesn't improve within this time quite considerably, I will be looking elsewhere.
I know it's not an issue with the box or my Internet connection, as when I disable the two lines and re-activate 'Ethernet' the channels that do work, work without any break up.Unlike Alshat you can speak here freely about Spiderbox!Comment

Re: best box
There is nothing wrong with any of the boxes mentioned, It is all down to to the support and dedication of the people that give you either clines, codes, and patches. If they stop the support your box will be 95% uselessComment

Re: best box
If you already own a Spiderbox there is little point buying another box as you will loose the S+ (Ethernet) support without gaining much else. As everyone else has said here the box is still being supported with new features such as the extended EPG so no need to bin it yet!!Comment
