    Iran launches Spanish global TV

    Iran launches Spanish global TV
    By Chris Forrester

Iran has launched ‘Hispan TV’, a global satellite news channel that is initially beaming its content to Latin America and in particular to Venezuela and the other Latino countries some of which have close political ties with Iran.

BBC Monitoring is reporting that Hispan TV is part of the state-funded Press TV

operation which already beams English-language material around the world. The Spanish-language channel is a fresh example of Iran’s effort to create TV channels away from “the media giants”, according to local reports.

Iran is proposing to establish a news bureau in Madrid, and in South America in time. Ali Mohaqqeq, first secretary at the Iranian embassy in Brasilia, Brazil, said in this connection: “A limited number of Western agencies have a monopoly on news about Iran and the Middle East in Latin America. This TV channel will help people have access to the news without distortion.”
