    Dish Alignment help please

Hi guys have a problem trying to set up my openbox s9 with a dark knight motor and a 80cm dish. I'm looking to set it up so that I can receive 13e,19e & 28.2 but when I set the motor on zero and facing south select usuals to find the satellites it scans and finds nothing my latitude is 55.8 degrees and longitude -4.14 but the dish elevation is different anything from 23.2 to 27 Ive got it set up just now at 28.2 set at zero with a 26 degree elevation just like a fixed dish, would love to get all the above sats then find out about putting info into the openbox

thanks hoping you can all advise me

    Re: Dish Alignment help please

    Hello,

first you have to set up your dish without the motor to a satellite.
Its better to take one in the south.

This means your position ist at 7 degrees east you take an satellite who ist an 7 degreas east postition to get the relative south of your position

It works with other positions too but its better.

If you have set up the dish without motor you build your motor and the dish.
Fix the dish at the right mark at the motor and search the same satellit as bevore without motor.
There the horizontal and vertical possibilitys. I prefere fixe the vertical position and turn the dish over the horizon, then try a little bit other vertical position ans so on...

This may sound obvious M8 but have you set the latitude on the side of the motor bracket so it reads near enough 55-56, Tighten up and place dish on motor as near perfectly straight as possible.

Then when placing on your pole or bracket which ever you have, i would advice a compass point as near as possible to true south tighten it all up go to your receiver and enter your latitude and longitude into the usuals settings. And as we are in the UK the nearest sat for you to find with those lat and lon settings is Thor @ 0.8 west get the receiver to turn your dish to thor.

Go back outside and then manually adjust the dish elevation until you get a good strong signal on 11862H which is BBC world as soon as that is done tighten it all up and check your other sats with usuals through the receiver.

I know you probably know this already but i cannot stress enough how important it is to have you bracket and pole as plumb as possible

Just to add your dish elevation is correct it may need some slight adjustment but most of the time you have to adjust the whole dish and motor together on the pole for fine tuning
