      This is an encapsulated link.

      Its part of the mesage system (the little globe with a small chain link on the menu above where you write a reply, just to the right of the formatting options).

      looks like a live link, but is the propper way to insert web addresses to this system. Giive it a try and you'll see what I mean.

      Just a few of points worth metioning about the satellite.xml file:

      1st All linux boxes use it, so it not for non linux.

      2nd If you replace your existing satellite.xml file with a new one, you will only be able to scan the satellites the satellites that are included in the file. Any others will not be on your box.
      If you are using a fixed dish setup its not a problem. But if you use a motor then when making the file you should include all satellites that you can recieve on your horizon. You can allways change it later if you setup changes.

        @Limane,

        you should realy start a new thread as this question dosn't relate to satellite.xml

        However ProDVB is a program for PC satellite cards.

          Re: Create Your Own Custom Satellites.xml File

          I find the custom xml method very useful. I create the file based on what my dish can pick up. I have a motorised, but the standard ones or even the ones that come with the downloadable e2 settings have more on than my dish can do. For example, it only picks up from 30.0W to 53.0E, and some satellites, like nilesat 7.0W are too weak, intermittent or out of sight. I get rid of these, and further narrow it by editing the file, to pull out weaker satellites in a constellation, for example, badr4 is the only one I get on 26.0E, so I delete the other transponders. This makes it easier and quicker to do an auto search and saves trawling through channels I can't get!
