    BBC have said that they are showing the final in 3d? Will a new channel for this?

          It is meant to be a temporary broadcast on the BBC HD channel, so I am assuming standard HD viewers will have to watch it on BBC one HD as opposed to the BBCHD(channel 169 on sky)

              The side-by-side format is how 3D TV is broadcast, not how it is displayed (it saves on bandwith and is compatible with existing HD set top boxes). The TV must convert these squashed images into full width images, shown alternately on an active shutter 100Hz system, or interlaced as on a passive 3D TV system.Whilst the tournament will be covered by BBC1, BBC2 and BBC HD, it is only the latter that will be showing it in 3D
