L-Band stands for Low Band and makes use of the Frequency range of 950 - 2150 Mhz (actually it goes lower than that i.e. to 390Mhz)

The Ku Band Satellite Frequencies (11.700 Ghz – 12.7Ghz ) are down converted (brought down) by the LNB so that our Satellite Receivers can handle the required Frequencies. If the Ku Band Frequencies weren’t brought down to the L-Band Range then the Design of the Receivers plus their accessories ( co-axial cabling etc.) would cost so much that it would be impractical to buy them.

Now to answer all your Questions in one sentence. We receive the L-Band with our Dishes and Receivers. They can be either Ku or C Band As regards the quality to the L-Band....the C Band is better than the Ku Band as regards attenuation of the Signal.

Finally the L-Band is also used by Maritime and other Military Personnel.

My Dear all Satellite Freqs fall within the L-Band Spectrum even the C-Band range. Now the Satellite 9E is no exception. I receive it as normal as I receive from 45W to 75E down here in Malta.

Are you sure you are on 9East and not on some other Satellite? Because if you are getting a signal you should be able to see the channels.

                Here is a screen shot.
