    Checking server status

Im not sure if this is 100% accurate and even if you do get a positive result, it does not always mean the server is working, but if you get no response whatsoever, at least you know it does not at all.

Open up the cmd by going to Start>Run>cmd

    Then type "ping serveraddress"
    for example "ping test.dyndns.com"

If you get no response from the server you know that it is offline and is not worth your time inputting the details into the reciever.

    Hope it helps

Pretty sure you can also just type the address into a web browser. Most servers have some sort of page that should load. If it doesn't then chances are the server is down.

I'm closing this thread is the information in it is wrong.

Ping will only give you a reply if the server responds to a ping request (many do not) and it will also tell you nothing about how overloaded a server is.
