dual lnb

looking to set up db 500s with a view to watch astra and hotbird sats, can a dual lnb be used for both or is a motorised dish the answer ...thanks

you can use two seperate lnbs with same antenna. you cant do it one lnb which has two output.

if u have static antena dual lnb is the answer one lnb for astra one for hotbird and u can watch without move the antena,but if u want one lnb then buy diesq motor and u can watch all satelites but u must wait 5-6 sec when u change satelite before antena go to sat position

if your going to put a dish up you only want to do it once so have a good think about what set up you want.

If you have one antena :

1. If you wan't to "catch" two sattelites one near other then you use two LNB's with support

2. If you wan't same sattelite, the you use a so called twin LNB (single LNB that has two outputs)

ive seen twin lnb for sale with a 6 deg split is that ok

Afterall what do you want exactly i tend to think that you wan't to catch one satellite and use two isolated outputs (second variant mentioned by me). If this is the case you need a twin LNB like this one :

from a sat shop on ebay ..hope it will be ok

what was the spec on the unit? frequency range etc. this will determine which transponders you can get

The LNB's are universal he will get all the transponders, no metter of specifications

in the past i used a twin lnb with two outputs. astra and hotbird. it was always a problem of receiving both sats at the same time if it was raining.
for myself i then bought two single lnb`s with a multifeed holder. thats working really fine
please tell us if you are sucessfull with your configuration of the lnb.

I never managed to have two satellites on a twin LNB at acceptable signal Level and Quality

i have same lnb with 2 outputs but this is for 2 diferent resivers to watch same sattelite
