as im starting off i will try 80cm with dual lnb,,and see how it goes , the sat shop said s.wales has good coverage..thanks

120cm would be good, you never know you will want to get other satellites next to astra 19.2E and hotbird 13E in future.

I think a compromise between size and gain in normal use Ku-band is 120 cm dish with a diseqc.
If you would like to receive the programs in C-band antenna size I'd recommend at least 200 cm.

Astra and hotbird have strong coverage in your location so you can get signals easily with smaller dishes

I'm on the south coast, and I have a 1m motorised dish. A bigger dish will obviously get you a better signal, I've go no problems receiving most of the European sats.

I cannot remember the costs, but I think there was hardly any difference between an 80cm and 1m dish. Go for 1m if you can.

normally 80cm à 90cm would be ok for astra and hotbird. I've started with 90cm in the past and had very good signal on both satellites.
I've you won't use motorized dish you will minimum need double lnb.

80-90 cm size is enough for these satellites. using a 120 cm dish with a diseqc motor may not be a good idea if you are living in a windy region. strong winds cause problems in gearwheel mechanism of motor when using big antennas.

going to buy a new motorised dish . would like to lock on to astra and hotbird sats..i live in south wales so would an 80cm be ok..?
