Despite the channel name this static slide is in SD not HD. They broadcast in HD resolution (528x576).

maybe is not really an HD ... like some receivers they have the HDMI output but they are not HD boxs ... it's a matter of tuner i think because if this channel broadcast in HD you can't decrypt it with SD tuner

the quality ( of pictures - not of the program-content ) is surely a bit better
than the rest of this provider,

but it is still far, far away from HDTV ...

You're right. Perhaps due to begin broadcasting in HD a decent quality SD. But if the quality of the films (I think the technical quality), no HD broadcasting can help to improve image quality.
