Re: AV problem
I had a similiar problem with a computer screen output setup. Trying to have the RGB set as output on newer tv's is not compatible in some cases and its not clear why. However I found that when I had an overlay of the terrestrial tv on top of my picture, it was also black and white. The solution I had to this was that my old tv allowed me press the AV button again and bring up a different output onto the screen for the SAME scart input. Its confusing but it had two different channel outputs for scart 1 and 2 different channel outputs for scart 2. The black and white problem was solved due to one scart not being RGB compatible while the problem you have I found was simply a compatability problem favouring older tvs. Since then I have purchased the latest tv and have not been able to set RGB output from any device and get a coloured normal picture, but since HDMI is the way forward its not an issue anymore...Comment

Re: AV problem
I hope so, once you watch HD you can never really go back to SD. I believe in the next 3-4 years 85% of programmes will definately be broadcast in at least 720p format.Comment

Re: AV problem
To be honest, the next 5-6 years we prob wont even have 720p. It'll prob be another viewing format to entice US customers to UPGRADE their sets. I mean, look how the viewing is going on now - first he have Sd, then Plasma, LCD, Backlit LED, Full LED and now 3D.Comment

Re: AV problem
Yes, but there is no way they can change the development plans, it has taken them 10years to plan the transition, it is near impossible for them to release a whole new system altogether. The 3D is being broadcast of the current signals we have now and will be developed further on that. The aim is definately to upgrade the higher proportion of tv viewers to HD. Its completely impractical to change everything over a period of 5 years, something like that will take a decade minimum. In 5 years time I can guarantee that 3D will be where HD is now and HD will be where SD is now.Comment

Re: AV problem
The monitors have to go away adapting to the new technology, and the new technology goes so rapid that everything changes rapidlyComment

Re: AV problem
Yes thats true, but not as rapid as you make out. My source for this information was an official article. For sure, technology will advance, but in terms of broadcast, the most your going to get anytime soon is 3D and HD.
This is another article, read the last paragraph, its got a gd quote: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/broadcas...hnologies.htmlComment

Re: AV problem
ontopic:
I notice when using CVBS in the TV settings it produces better colors. RGB works fine but the colors are too washed out.
also when using SCART cable it's better to buy quality cable since it's analog connection and it can get interference.
offtopic:
The quality of SD channels on satellite is pretty awful when watched on HD tv. I have seen divx movies with lot better quality than the SD satellite channels. some satellite channel look better that other. but it would be better if all the channels just upgrade the resolution to at least 720p (1280×720). full HD (1920x1080) would be best.Comment

Re: AV problem
If they all upgraded to at least 720p though, that would mean the whole country would have to buy a HD tv haha. Can you imagine the money the shops would make. It will happen but not in the next 10 yearsComment

Re: AV problem
receiver does not support this mode, although in fact little difference between RGB and CVBS not, CVBS recommend to choose when you connect via SCART and RGB via ComponentComment
