hi all my spiderbox has devoloped the f100 fault have tried the recovery software on win7 and a vista ulitimate machine but just hangs on both ,so may the other problem i read with the transister ? even though i'm a sparks don't fancy soldering the box so anyone know where i maybe able to get this repaired or whats a suitable replacement sub 100 ?

As has already been said to you, you really do need to use a Windows XP setup for this with a proper com port and null modem cable. To my knowledge there have been very few occasions when this approach has not sorted out the problem. There does not seem to be any recommended repair people out there for you to bring it to.I think the repair you mentioned is to do with the power supply and you might try asking about this on the A***t forum.

Dont know about getting it repaired I have a 7000HD and it aint easy to get someone brave enough hehe. Recommendations I have a Skybox F3 and a Openbox S11 as well and would recommend any of the two of them they come in on flea bay about £50

As Mobley says, you need to use a computor with XP and ideally a computor with a rs232 port, but a "NewLink USB 2.0 to Serial Adapter RS232 9-pin Converter" works. You will still need a Null modem lead.

I have tried xp vista and windows 7 and xp is the only one that works so i would try xp first if it stills hangs then maybe its time to buy a new box

Hi all,
i think there is no difference in the system you use, you just need to have the rs com port.
I have successfully used win7 to manage upload of new fw on my spiderbox ...
... however last time i got f100 fault (and the first time same time) that was the last days of the box.
In my opinion that is hardware issue and you cant do nowt till you know what to fix/replace.

I've seen this problem fixed on a linux os using usb to null modem cable adapter.

Some people have success with usb to null modem adaptors but i have always got errors so i use a a full null modem lead and have never had a problem
