try to swap the cable between the TV and the receiver and you can connect the receiver to a TV via SCART

I have a problem to solve, skybox F5 turns on but remains fixed background image, the rest of the OSD menu and all gone

I think you will have to reflash your F5 with new firmware look at this thread:

My friend the method is the same but the versions of rs232 recovery tools are
different and the firmware for official box get from here -skybox.cc and if you
think clone try this site for firmware -http://www.hddvbsw.com/
I've uploaded to recovery tools you can try with the rs232 null modem cable but
do follow microchick's guide.
