    Hiding/Deleting channels

This post is a partner to a thread over on the Installation sub-forum.

I've been finding alternative satellites and doing a blindscan for channels.

I notice there are quite a few raunchy channels on some of the satellites broadcasting in the afternoon. I have teenage kids and this stuff is just too strong

Is there a way to hide these channels on the Openbox or is the best solution to delete them?
And I assume I'll have to do this every time I do a new blindscan whilst I get everything setup properly?

    hi

I don't have an openbox, but isn't there of parental lock (has probably so be set manually, or perhaps with a channel editor?). Should be in the manual or in the channel menus?

      That sounds about right.

With parental lock, does it automatically select channels like a content rating system or do you have to select the channels to block?

        hi

The boxes I know you have to block them manually, however on the internet I found 'prepared' channellists, with the blocks already there. I must say I never use another's channellist (often problems with that). Best is to use a channel editor (ok, will take some time, but so you'll be sure everything's blocke you want).

Also, when you look at king of sat, for each channel you can see a Category, it'll give you an idea of what the channels are about.

I haven't got a motorised dish but there are channel list for 28.2e with the ***** list deleted are there not similar channel list available for the other satellites that are similar?

I am sure there are concerned parents all over the world who would not want ***** content available.

edit the channellist in dreambox edit.
The channellists such as vhannibal, etc, always have the erotic channels grouped in one bouquet. Just delete the bouquet and upload to your stb.

              Thanks everyone.
That sounds about the easiest way to do it because I can save my own channel list then - there are lots of channels included in 28.2 lists that I would never watch.

Channel editing isn't something I've dared tackle yet. If I use dreambox edit will it load, as it is, in to openbox okay?

                hi

Don't know this, take a look here (openbox section - found an old link to a channel editor S9 in the 'Sticky: OpenBox Settings'). Anyway, before you tryu: take a back-up of your channels/settings/setup!

                  McrRed,
you would be best to do some searching on other forums for the info you require, as it only looks like members here not got the experience of the workings of your particular box. (some guessing perhaps)
channels, to move delete lock etc, seem very easy to do on most boxes.

Fair point, but, Satlover being the best, maybe I'll just have to write one for others to use in the future

why not format a post and store in openbox section for future members that will have simalar problems.

I think the s10 you can lock the channels or why not just delete them totally by going in the edit channels menu.

Agree . But my problem's not with a "permanent" channel list...where I can do as you say, it's whilst i'm scanning random satellites and checking channels there's a load of smut that can be run into by accident, even in daytime (I guess its the one time I'm NOT grateful for satlover's comprehensive clines).

                            Re: Hiding/Deleting channels

There is a Channel Lock Option in Openbox. Just go to Edit Channel. Highlight the channel and Lock. Everytime someone opens the channel it askes for a pass code. Hope no one else knows the passcode. This way you can make the channel secure without deleting them.
