Re: what harddrive
hi
really depends on the box (one of mine has problems more than 500 GB) - I searched on the openbox, but apparently not much info, didn't even found a manual ; hopefully some members here with openboxes who want to help you (if they have HDD's) - I know there's an own 'openboxforum', perhaps you can try there (on other forums I know of, almost no info or support on the openbox neither).
On the other hand: if you don't get info here, buy one and test ; think an external HDD is always useful to have ... -
Re: what harddrive
Looked in other openbox forums capacity doesn't seem to be a problem, as someone has a 1Tb drive, but there are some issues so I might go for 500Gb drive and hope it works, if not I'm sure I can find some where to use it.Liked my post then push the sigpic button.Comment

Re: what harddrive
i bought a 1tb portable hard drive less than a week ago, after learning a few tricks here and there with the help of a few off here, it was almost plug and play and away you go, it sounds hard but its easy once you know howComment

Re: what harddrive
I think I've mentioned this already (other thread): but capacity really depends on your box! - must be formatted mostly in FAT32 - this formatting can be done mostly by box itself, of not you can use 'Fat32Formatter' to do this.
If further help or info is needed, please ask.Comment

Re: what harddrive
Hi mahrkpat
you said you got your HDD formatted to fat32 in your last post. can you tell me what HDD you eventually went for and how does it work?
I am going to purchase one for myself, so if you found one that works without any problems the please advise of what size and model.
ThanksComment

Re: what harddrive
Hi washington,
You should really have a look at the user manual of your box to see what size it can support. Some of the boxes can support on 500GB or so. FAT32 is usually a reliable format for the hard drives used in STB and almost all the boxes can support FAT32. Very few of them would support NTFS.If you like my post, please don't hesitate to click on "Thanks"button. Thank youComment

Re: what harddrive
Hello washington I went for the hard drive in the link below and so far it has performed without any problems it is small enough to be tucked away behind my box out of sight.
