Compare your chip id with these:
    00D0
    00EA
    085B
    0D0C
    98A1
    98F2
    9CF4
    9D1A

If it has one of these, then it is original.

      Re: Clone

This is stupid, what chance do we have when buying a box, the front looks the same the remote looks the same, you can ask if it is a clone, but as most sales are over internet we are stuck when we buy them, and the only way to find out if they are fake is to open up and check the number of a chip...

Companys are so strict (which i understand) I joined a DB website looking for help and as soon as they found out i had a clone, I was told to take a running jump..surely the fact we were duped, and no I did not know I had bought a clone as I was new to the scene, we should not be shunned...

the chip_id_list is the following, it will update everyday: (updated date: 12/26/2011)
        00D0
        00EA
        085B
        0D0C
        98A1
        98F2
        9CF4
        9D1A
        1015
        0D7E
        38EC
        10AA
        1466
        113C

When you buy a new box , try to view the chip_id_list on our website. If you can not find the valid "CHIP ID" on the chip_id_list, it means your box is a clone box.

I think you need to press 7777 or 8888 to get it to show version.

This is very helpful, at least for me since I am about to buy an S9. But the problem is the shops here in Dhaka wont let me fire it up before I buy. Is there no other way to verify the authenticity of the box before I buy without having to go to see the CID in the box?

Edit: Just to let you know that I have got an S9 and your post enabled me to find a genuine one. Thank you.

However, the box apparently came with European firmware...no satellites beyond 72E. I'm pretty sure the firmware is not the latest either. I searched for an asian firmware and got a bit confused. Care to point me to the right direction?

I will try to upload it, I have not tried it so it is up to you, do a little research

              and good luck
If I read the date correctly it is of May 19, 2011. I believe the latest firmware was released on December 2, 2011.

Anyway do you have any idea if this would work on an S9?
