Enigma2 Azbox Elite e Premium
no audio/video/demux/tuners support. But it's on current stage that can be tested what is working for now.

Image is build with Makefile-opendreambox-1.5 for dm800(didnt try new OE 1.6), but for e2 to works, it will need some patches. I will try to upload main diff/write here what I changed.
Many Python code is disabled in mytest.py , Harddisk.py is used from Sh4 build, etc ...
so guys who wants/know Python can start playing/repairing because it want work with default Python code for Dreambox ...

With big thanks to the The_ripper, we got the First version of Enigma 2 which we can test on our AzBox HD Receivers :

This version is only for Elite and Premium.

Premium+ version will be out also today.

Raskino we are shame on YOU !!! And all what You said against AzBox HD devices !!!



Transfer the patch.bin file to the FA**2 formated usb stick, and update Your receiver like with normal azbox fw.

All comments are welcome.

Web If working, Telnet working, FTP working.

BEFORE Puthing this Enigma 2, take care to also connect receiver with Your local area network, so if something goes wrong, You can use rescue files to back to the original version of FW !!!

Small app for returning back on AzBox Official FW will be ready today

Keep in the mind, that this enigma is running without Tuner drivers, which still have to be finished !!!

If You have problem with E2 and want to go back to the original FW, as this is beta version :

Download file BACK TO ORIGINAL FW.rar , attached to this post.

First DELETE 2 pictures from the MMP directory !!! and than transfer this files !!!

Put file update in the /tmp directory and give CHMOD 755 .

Also , put the file backup_kernel in /MMP directory .

Connect to telnet, and run this command :

./update /MMP/backup_kernel

NOTE: Also You can put this files on usb and run them from it !!!

After, that flash AzBox with original fw, that is all.

It is still under development with many problems, to moments there will be new updates

I suggest to don't test this Enigma 2 if you're not really able to handle Azbox files like mikine56 has described. This firmware is useless for simply reason it don't manages tuners like written up. Also it is really unstable and crashes alot. Is better don't risk your Azbox life just for your curiosity are there many problems then to reload the firmware! Your Azbox can be unsable then!

I have pointed out that it was a Beta and still has many problems, so I cannot see precisely that been commenting on.
..(In any case, the procedure described for the restoration works perfectly)

Yes mikine56, the procedure is working great till you reboot the azbox without falshing back the original kernel.
After that the box is gone ...
The only way is to connect via serial (TTL) to recover the box.
And the recover procedure isn't for newbies...
The enigma was experimental.

Just wait, maybe is comming and update the box only when the procedure is consolidated.

Are there alot of boxes that uses ENIGMA2 I don't understand why ppl buy Azbox and wanna Enigma2, is more simply to buy a compatible Enigma2 box then buy an Azbox and wait for a Enigma2 porting.

I don't think it will happens because Enigma will run under emulation of Azbox drivers, so it will be not the same like on DM. Sigma drivers are not publics just Opensat has those but they also have problems to develop a good reader for DTS movies. So don't expect too much from this Enigma2 release.
I don't know what problems you've on tuner section Shklifo, I don't have any issue on tuner section, it works well without crashes. Can be you need to clean up your box and install fresh firmware, the only problems I've heared on Azbox are on movie's section or on other multimedia funcions, but never on tuners.

For the tuner part I haven't got any problems, but on the receiver part isn't perfect. Just the time shift isn't working properly, recording not always work as it must do, cams, plugins, slow changing channel, slow network and usb speeds, not really twin on Azbox HD Plus etc...
And believe me I'm testing the box for 1 1/2 years, installing all the official firmwares.
For the enigma2, is a long way to go, i know, but and i'm expecting to test it and let us see what will be.
Yeah, DTS isn't working yet, and i haven't any idea if azbox hardware will be able to, but appart that i got any problems with all the movie containers i test, MKV included. For the pictures also you can't get full size, only 1920X1080.
The enigma2 porting team is releasing the new beta.
I'm curiuos, but for know this is only for elite and premium.
For the Plus version (mine) they have problems with ST tuner driver.

Yeah time shift and record are the basically problems, anyway if you'll use Oscam and Mgcam (both at same time) properly configureds you'll be able to record also scrambled HD channels. Multicas is really easy to use but not the best for the record. For USB speed I don't have problems, I've an Elite, it reads all MKV I've without problems, I've also added another disk to record on second USB port and on SD channels it is perfect, it works well also on HD fta channels, on scrabled channels I've problems, but I'm using Multicas now.
I don't trust Azbox problem will be solved by Enigma anyway, because this is a firmware born for other kind of cpu, so it isn't SIgma cpu native code. I think the box will contine to be slow... but we will see, if good news will come we all will be happy!

7. Turn Off AzBox HD Device, put USB Memory stick in Receiver, and Turn it on.


8. On VFD You will see RESCUE MODE and IP Address will be listed.


9. On Your PC run application called AzUP by our team member telesat, enter IP of Your AzBox HD Device and click on UPDATE


10. Wait that Update is finished, and You will have again AzBox HD Official Firmware


This is totally RISK FREE Installation and Recovery procedure for AzBox HD Elite / Premium Devices !!!

Please, just follow procedure, and You will not have any problem at all, as this procedure was tested many many times internally by our team.

Appears "geeko :P" on the display and then appears the ip of the box.But everything stops there



Just reboot with the USB stick connected with the E2 firm, it should go into Recovery Mode, and show the IP on the VFD.

Launch AzUp and reinstall E2 firmware. Thats it!

The team release a first alfa yesterday with no audio/video and the peoples that was testing that was fast enough. I can't test my self becouse i've got a premium plus, but they are telling that at the end of this month will release a functioning beta.
Let hope and see.

Aye it has just menu so we can't dispute if it works fast or not until it will not do all jobs. Now just with some menu is normal it is fast, the box does nothing.
At end I think those ppl don't works for free so if Enigma2 will be developed and supported this means Opensat is back this, the suspect comes by the fact there are not more beta fw from long time by Opensat (until last mouth there was a release each day!) and at same many are speaking about a release of Enigma2.

This is a good question, it depends from many factors: first of all we should to wait to see if denvlopment will go on in future or not, it depends if there are intresting on this box by team of Enigma2. What I can say at moment is no one beta firmware release is out from Opensat from more then 1 month and this is not a good sign... We can only hope and see.
