Watching recorded programs on pc in Windows 8.1

Is it possible to use the videoplayers that are built into windows 8.1 to watch the recorded programs through a share from my amiko alien 2 (in spark) or can anyone suggest another program for that ?
It is not about decoding programs that are recorded scrambled but the normal recorded programs.

Yup, VLC works. Only has some stuttering with HD but that might be in the networkcables somewhere.

I find Media Player Classic to be pretty good as well. Plays most and pretty reliable.
