Amiko Alient 2 Triple tuner - problem watching one while recording

    Hi

I hope someone will be kind enough to shed some light on why I have some channels unavailable when I am recording.

I have not quantified this but this is what I have seen.

If I record a channel I have noticed that I can only view HD channels the others are not available. If I record a s_y channel then any other s_y is scrambled. It just doenst do what I had hoped.

I have a twin lnb with cable to both tuners as well as tdt cable to the 3rd tuner

Using what I think is the right setup. Ie tuner 1 and tuner 2 separated.

I am using Spark 1.2.61 and either USB stick or Network drive to record on.

    Any Ideas please

how do you have your tuners set-up is one a duplicate of the other or are they both setup seperately?

not much experience with spark, you would be better off with an enigma2 image.

Did you check the speed of the medium you are trying to record with ?
If it is not fast enough it might be your receiver is putting too much processor slices to the recording process and cannot do other tasks

        hi,
sorry for the delay in getting, real life and all that.

anyway after a lot of testing and tinkering i settled on the OpenPKT image.
i got CrossEPG and CoolTVguide to work, they took a bit of messing around to get working without crashing.

@teranoz, i use a Seagate e-go 2TB USB 3 drive, i know its only plugged into a USB 2 port, but its a 7200RPM drive inside, so should be fast enough to keep up. i also re-formated it as EXT2 , openpkt didnt liek EXT4 format, EXT2 is faster for read/write than EXT3 .

thanks for all the advice all.

Did you use the HDD recording test from spark settings ?

I also did some testing with recording, and I can record DVB-S2 on Tuner 1, a DVB-T on tuner 3 and watch another DVB-S or DVB-S2 on Tuner 2 and all other combinations without problems.

Maybe you should make a testing schedule to test what combinations do work and what do not (different satellites, same satellite, SD, HD, low resolution programs)

teranoz, sorry for the long delay.

the HDD speed tests were carried out using my PC.
based on the presumption that Enigma2 is linux based, i reasoned that there would not be a huge difference between the results from my laptop and the amiko box.

i have been using it from months as EXT2 and have not had any issues.

If you use the amiko internal speedtest it shows you graphic bars with what you are able to view and record. Your pc does not give you that info.
