Problems with dish movement in Amiko Alien HD

I have a major problem. I have just had a motorised dish set up and all has been working fine on my alien 8900 HD in enigma 2. The problem i have on the motorised dish is i can't get 28e due to a large tree blocking the line of sight so i have a sky dish on another part of the house which picks up sky so i have diseqc'ed the two but i have to keep changing the settings to either positioner to use the motorised or disecq to use the sky. anyway to cut a long story short i thought i would try and configure it in spark and now i have lost everything on the motorised system in both spark and enigma. I am getting no signal on any satellite yet the motor is still moving. Does anyone know what the hell i have done and how to fix it. Surely if the motor is moving then there is nothing wrong with the dish or lnb??? any ideas

    thanks in advance Rikk

    hi rikk,
there,s an old saying, if it aint broke dont fix, but i know that want help.
not familiar with that box, but i know you know your stuff.
only think i can add is start from scratch ie (the dreaded factory re-set) and and re-install items as you would with new box, good luck my friend, hope it all works out.
    ps cyprus end of march.

Cheers toby will have to try that. Can't think why the dish would have gone out of sync so i assume it must be the box?

Cyprus end of June for me!

Ok done a complete factory reset. loaded everything back on and still nothing. Could the LNB have blown? Its brand new and the dish was only installed yesterday by a professional installer.

Sounds like it´s gone out of sync to me. Have you tried nudging it until you pick up a signal?

Sorry Bokkie not sure what you mean. Do you mean getting up on the roof and physically moving the dish. I don't have any meters so its gonna be quite difficult. The motor is a technomate 2600 i can manually drive it back to 0 and then reset it is that what you mean? I had a professional installer come and fit it. Might just plead ignorance and give him a call and say it was like that when i switched it on this morning

i think what bokkie means, depends on box.

spiderbox7000 in motor set-up, there is motor step option, (nudge facility) which moves dish via remote 1 degree for each press on this option, east or west.

lnb from motor must be connected to diseqc switch input/first, then you need to connect cable from diseqc output back to motor input and then from motor output back to receiver

Ok have now got a signal, I drove the motor back to 0 and then reset the motor. On my enigma 2 settings i have the ability to step the positioner. I have done this with thor and have tweaked it to 77% and then saved the position and then went back to 0. It seems to have held as previously i was getting 60% do i need to do this with all the satellites or as thor is now on a good strength will it improve all the other sats i can receive. I did try and tweak 7east and improved that saved it on positioner 2 and sent the motor back to 0 and then went to 7 east but it had gone back to 40% even though i had tweaked it to 58%

Sounds like you're on the road to recovery rikksow,

just a note for others in this position, try to tune against a strong channel to get a rough nudge/step position then fine tune with a known weaker channel to get the best position.

                  Also for fine-tuning motorised setups:

Sorry Rikksow, that was exactly what I meant. Nudging the motor in the settings on your stb. Sounds like you got there so that is a great result.
Think you need to do it with all the sats individually.
