    Re: Twinhan Card

I have an old TwinHan card, but I have some problem to find a working driver. Do you know where I can find BDA driver for older PCI TwinHan DVB-S with CI slot?

        Re: Twinhan Card

Is it not working or what?
This is a DVB-S, not a DVB-S2 card, but some channels are transmitted in DVB-S. Obviously DVB-S2 card is better I would use it for now, and in future buy a better DVB-S2

          Re: Twinhan Card

          Look.
On 36E less then a half of channels are DVB-S with Mpeg2. So it's kind not worth to try to resurrect old hardware. DVB-S card it's possible to buy for about 500 RUR on avito in SPb.
On the other hand DVB-S2 card you can buy for less then 2000 RUR (PCI) and less then 3000 RUR (USB)

          About SS1.
It works. But it works only in older version of ALTDVB (1.7) and shows only DVB-S (with MPEG2 video stream) channels

            Re: Twinhan Card

            Ok thanks.
I cannot use software Mpeg4 to decode streaming and dvb-s card only for tuning operation?

              Re: Twinhan Card

              OK
Things goes like this. There are 2 standards DVB-S and DVB-S2. DVB-S2 equipment can work in both standards. The difference in these 2 standards are basically in different modulations - QPSK for DVB-S and 8PSK (and other) for DVB-S2. Theoretically they may broadcast MPEG4 or MPEG2 video stream via both systems, but practically DVB-S means MPEG2, DVB-S2 means MPEG4.
So if you have a modern DVB-S2 card you may receive all channels from a satellite. If you have a vintage DVB-S card you may only receive channels from DVB-S2 transponders.
On Eutelsat W4 there are about only third part of transponders are in DVB-S. All +++ and tricolor HD channels are broadcasted in DVB-S2.

                Thanks. I'll buy a new dvb-s2 card.
Anyone know any full working card on windows AND linux?
