    Total Newbie question

    Hi,
Im a total newbie and have read as much as i can on the subject but I'm still rather confused and am wondering if someone can help me.
    - First, are Acamd, CCcam, hadu and mgcamd software card readers ? I mean are they used in place of physical card readers ?
    - Second what exactly does Oscam do and do i need it if I have one of the above installed ?

Currenlty Im on win7 with Progdvb installed, Acamd and a geniatech HD DVB-S2 device installed. I'm using this to learn about the entire process before moving onto a Linux PC.
    Any help would be appreciated

    Re: Total Newbie question

Acamd and HADU are windows card sharing emulators. It means they emulate card readers while trying to descramble tv stream connecting to cardsharing server over network.
CCCam is a card sharing emulator/server for Linux . It uses CS protocol also called CCCam.
Oscam is a cross-platform card sharing emulator/server, which is able to work with different CS protocols like Newcamd and CCCam.
MGCamd is a card sharing emulator for linux driven SAT boxes. It intended to work with Newcamd protocol, but it may also utilize CCCam protocol.
Satlover's card sharing service works using CCCam protocol. So if you want to discramble tv stream with satlover's c-line in windows you will need hadu or acamd. OSCAM in windows may not work as a DVB app plugin, only as a CS server so it's useless for your case
