VLC vs Codecs

I am curious, a lot of people are interested in decoder packs, but I haven't really used them for years and have instead been using VLC. What are people using to play their video's now?

playing from PC or streams from internet i use VideoLan, too,

streaming from SetTopBox sometimes, but not too often, VLC does not work so you have to use another player,

but everyone has his own, prefered player i think ...
