help needed with acamd and recording using a dvb-s2 card

    Hello all,

I've been advised to speak to the experts on this forum regarding an issue with a dvb-s2 card.

I'm having a bit of trouble using acamd with Dvbviewer. Maybe I'm missing something, or don't have the correct settings. I'm just wondering if someone can tell me what I've done wrong.

When recording a encrypted channel whilst watching another encrypted channel at the same time, if then go an playback the recorded program it kind of semi freezes every few seconds (screen goes pixelated) making it no good to watch.

In the plugins directory for dvbviewer I have: acamd.dll and cardclient.conf. cardclient.conf contains this: newcamd:192.168.7.54:34000:1/0000/0000:usernameassword:0102030405060708091011121314

I then have another folder within the plugins folder named plugins1, which as far as I'm aware is used for the second tuner. Inside plugins1 I have the same files acamd.dll and cardclient.conf, but I have number 2 after newcamd, like this:
    newcamd2:192.168.7.54:34000:1/0000/0000:usernameassword:0102030405060708091011121314

Is this right? am I missing any other files other than the two above? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

hi, here some hints for further investigations :

do you have correct access, connection and decrypt on tuner 1 ?

do you have correct access, connection and decrypt on tuner 2 ?

what about running it in debugging mode, log the output and study it ?

    with tuner 1 only ?

    with tuner 2 only ?

    with tuner 1 + tuner 2 ?

what about adsl , server time response ?

you server do loadbalancing ? for user twinned-connected ?

what about linking tuner 1 to dedicated server 1 and
    tuner 2 to dedicated server 2 ?

    enjoy

      Hi fezz0

I think that the line you have can decrypt only one channel each time.

That's means that you can't record a encrypted channel and to watch one other also encrypted.

If you do it, you will increase the ecm request from your server and you will risk a ban from it.

You can use the twin tuner of your card but only one encrypted channel each time,
or you can do a simultaneously record with one FTA and one encrypted channel.

        Thanks for the reply guys.

The server I'm using has multiroom enabled for up to 4 boxes, so surely I can use this line to decrypt 2 channels at the same time.

Recording a encrypted channel whilst watching another encrypted channel at the same time does work, it's just the programme which is recording will semi glitch every 5 seconds. So I'm just wondering if I have missed out a certain setting to sort it out.

I don't see what the difference is between using a twin tuner pc card and a vu duo for example. On my Vu Duo I can watch and record two encrypted channels at the same no with no issues.

maybe the 2 simultaneous recording swap the lnb from one polarization to the other ?

            Ok @fezz0

I didn't know that you have multiroom permission on your line.

In this case... yes, you can watch and record two encrypted channels simultaneously as you wish.

In order to solve the problem of freezing, you can try another version of Dvbviewer or even other program and also find the newest drivers for you're dvb card.

My knowlage on cams and settings for dvb cards are very limited, so it's better to take help from other member of forum.

I've now changed the default dvbviewer and recorder service settings from both tuner states being set as normal, to only use tuner A with dvbviewer, then recording service to use tuner B and I'm still facing this glitch issue.

I've even put two different servers in each plugins folder, so I have one server for dvbviewer (tuner A) and a completely different server for recording service (tuner B). I'm still getting this picture glitch when playing back the recorded programme.

I've tried disabling tuner A on dvbviewer to only use tuner B and it plays live tv perfectly with no glitches, so this doesn't seem to be an issue with the tuners. I knew this anyway as I can record free channels perfectly fine whilst watching a encrypted channel.

This issue all seems to be pointing towards acamd. Unfortunately I'm not very technical minded when it comes to using encryption programs. I'm really not sure what to do now.

Any other ideas would be much appreciated.

Would it be possible for a moderator to move this thread to the dvbviewer forum here? http://www.sl-forums.com/forum/dvbviewer/

Maybe someone over there might know a solution for this issue.

              Cheers

Re: help needed with acamd and recording using a dvb-s2 card

                thx for probing !

                so, from what i read:

ok: hw, config, tuner, one by one mode,
                server ok,
server multi simultaneous provid : ok

it seems, as you said, the mismatch bugs anyware in the dll,
as 2 x-cam point to the same mem address,
                but with they own keys

i really wonder if it is ok when :
                running your processes,
                simultaneously, as you want
                but on 2 independant pc,
--- or 2 virtualized os on the unique pc --

if it is easy to proceed this, this should strongly hints onto the dlls ...

I recommend to you, use DVBDream instead DVBViewer.
For me is the best sat viewer app.
                  Regards.

Ok I have xbmc on my iPad linked up to recording service. I have a encrypted channel playing on my PC and a encrypted channel playing on my Ipad. The problem still persists playing on my iPad through recording service.

This line works perfectly fine when it's in my Vu Duo. No issues recording nothing.

I have closed dvbviewer and now I'm only using xbmc on the iPad through dvbviewer recording service. This problem seems to be recording service decrypting channels because it is still glitching.

This is definitely nothing to do with my internet speed either as I'm on 50mb fibre.

I'm slightly unsure what you mean by cypher on and off. If this means active and not active then yes I'm following you.

This still doesn't work regardless of tuner a or b being used on a different pc.
