    CCCam on HTPC

    Hi all,

I have a HTPC wiith windows 8 on it and I want to be able to use my sky dish and cccam for watching the channels through my HTPC (with something like mediaPortal or XBMC)

I need a DVB-S2 card in order to get the HD channels right?
Which one should I get? I have found a list of them here: https://h***xxttp://wiki.team-mediap...orted_TV_Cards but not sure what to go for. Ideally it would be pci express.

Then how do add my cline to the software so that it can decode the signals?

Here in DVB-cards section you'll find all information of how to reach your goal. To determine what card to buy - you may read here _http://www.satlover.eu/forum/dvb-s-drivers/40513-recommend-me-a-dvb-card.html#post293834
Then you have to choose DVB viewing software. I like DVBViewer myself. There are some popular DVB players - DVBDream, ProgDVB, AltDVB etc. To choose what you like read here _http://www.satlover.eu/forum/dvb-s-players/ I don't recommend you to use mediaportal for it has no sharing plugins support in stock and you will need to make some tricks to make CS work there. Anyway to use cardsharing you will need a CS plugin like ACamd or Satlover's plugin (universal) or HADU (CCCam). Place it in Plugin folder of DVBViewing software and edit config with information of your c-line. That's all.

That is very helpful, thank you.
I would like to have a frontend that can do everything like music, videos and TV witohut switching apps (hence my suggestion for xbmc or mediaportal)
      Is something like that possible?

Went through the list of cards in the thread you mentioned and looking at the TBS8922 DVB-S2. Any feedback on that one?

Yes thats a very decent card and if you look for a low budged card the TechniSat SkyStar S2 is very cheap and does it's work.

Does that play well with windows 8 and cccam?

Don't buy technisat. Read thread about DVB cards I mentioned before.
8922 is a modern TBS card costs about 70 $. TBS card is a best choice. But it seems you wanted to get pci-e card. In this case it's better something like 6922. Even cheaper.

DVBViewer may work as media center. May show all types of media. The only problem - it's not free.
XBMC needs DVB backend. I mean it must be connected to some app able to open DVB stream, decode it and stream to XBMC. Like DVBLink or DVBViewer Recording Service (windows) or VDR or TVHeadend (linux). Windows backends are not free.
MediaPortal as i said before has no sharing plugin native support, so you will need to use mdapi directshow filter between app and SC plugin. And it look like crutches for me.

              You should buy TBS card...
I have SkyStar HD2 and allweys is hard to find drivers.

And TBS cards support Blindscan and lov simbolrate, while Sky Star card doesnt support blindscan and have problems with lov SR.
