what about your hd:
- is it formatted ?
- can you mount it on a pc ?
- what is the file system ?
- does have your dm800 an external elec power supply for your hd ?

you should have an operationnal hd on a pc,
then move it to dbox,
then mount it directly

(avoid format ... on dbox, in a first approach ... )

Look in your settings is there something that says recording paths if there is point it towards your drive also see if there is hd manager in the download plugins or in Ts Panel.

if you need to format your disk, i suggest

- ext3 ( linux, journalized)
- ext2 ( linux, not journalized)
or
- vfat ( windows compatible, not journalized)

ntfs sounds a bit risky to me ...

Just thought of another thing what are the attributes of your hdd and movie folder if they
are not 755 then right click and select attributes and set them to 755.

... box says the hard drive is there but when I go to format it or initialization I have just made a folder named movie ...

From these words it seems everything is ok ...
Anyway a simple "mount" command from a telnet session would give us a lot of useful infos.

found a hd manager in ts panel am now formatting drive in ect32 as directed

Hi John R

I think that your image should has a function like "HDD format", or "Disk management" etc.
The only you must do is to find this function , to format your disk as ext2 or ext3 and then you must mount it (you should also find this function in the menu of your box).
Finally you have to check the recording paths if are ok.

When you try to format an hard disk from Enigma menù it will be formatted by default with the ext4 filesystem.

I don't know if there is an option to choose another filesystem.

got it sorted wouldn't have been able to fix this without your help its good to know people like you guys are there for help and advice
