it is possible to activate the USB port of the dm500HD (which has the same processor than the 8000, with DTS and DivX support, and is quite faster than the 800) by unsolding two R1010 & R1011 resitors (but it will avoid the guarantee).
then you should adapt an USB connector from a PC Mother Board by cutting a corner ...
and then you should drill the box if needed in order to attach the connector
Because the internal electric protection of the USB is inactivated, it is recommanded to use an USB hub which has a separate power supply like this one instead of a standard one :
And you should use an image for DM500HD which support USB of course.
