    wifi bridge

    hi
i have a dreambox 500s. at the moment my sat box is too far from my router to connect them directly so i have an open media wifi bridge setup.
these are supposed to be usable for gaming over the internet.
so my question is are these devices fast enough for cccam usage or do i need to get some other device.
    thanks for your help

    Re: wifi bridge

I would have thought what you have is fine for cccam (there is not a great deal of traffic).

I use powerline adapters in my house, ebuyer (UK) are selling 200Mbps adapters in pairs at the moment for £50 (but regularly have a special offer on them for £40). I've always found these much more reliable than wifi.

I used a cheap TP-Link repeater and it worked just fine . tonybod solution will also work but you would need X4 money to buy the powerline adapters

        Re: wifi bridge

I have 2 internet connections here in my house and I'm using both solutions:
        - TP-Link 500 wireless bridge/repeater
        - D-Link Ethernet over Power Lines adapters (85Mb version)

Both works smoothly, no big issues.

I had some problems with the Netgear Powerline Adapters, if one of them was connected on the same socket where a switching power supply adapter was connected, like a cellphone battery charger, the line was not working.
I bought the 400 series with 4 port switch embedded and now I have 4 of them in the box not usable in my house...

D-Link 201 works VERY GOOD, TP-Link 500/501 works good as well.

          Re: wifi bridge

I'm using the ebuyer 200Mbps ones. No idea of the brand. No problems at all with them, most of the time I stream video to an old Xbox running XBMC.

But I also had a Netger XE104 (like Faccione) and also had trouble with it. Solwise 85Mbps ones were fine though.

            Re: wifi bridge

            Hi,

I used in the past a wifi bridge with my DM7000 (few years ago). In bridge mode, it has a dedicated IP, so the default gateway of the dreambox must be set to this one.
Nevertheless, I changed to powerline adapters (80Mb) with a switch. They were not working fine at the beggining, but after having found the right emplacement in the house (alone on the socket and on the same electric line) it is perfect (I also share my media files with my old xbox with it).
The wifi bridge was sometime disconnecting and it had a random speed. Personnaly, I prefer the powerline adatper.
If you don't want to tranfert big files (such the recorded movies), you don't need a high speed model because the CS protocols need to transfert only few bytes at each query (it is very light and a low speed adaptor could be enough).

            A+
            Seb

Wait, i might not be getting it but are you trying to get the dm500 to use wifi somehow? Cause I don't wanna wire around the whole house with UTP cable... (Modem is upstairs, DM500 will be downstairs...)

                      hi resident
                      thats about it

but my router is downstairs and my dreambox 500 is upstairs. my wifi bridge is coupled to the back of my dreambox and it is connecting to my router but i thought it might be too slow. i now know its not so i have to see if i have something else slowing down my system.

Yeah, just checked it, in Hungary it's like 40eur. For 4eur I can feed a wire through all the walls in the house and hang myself with the leftover. Although checking out the chinese is not a bad idea, I'm about to order a DM500 clone either way.
