dm 500 doesn't like cold start

my box always freezes or crashes when its cold. As it gets warmer it stays on for longer. sometimes it will be ok for hours once it has warmed up. Any ideas what the problem could be? I'm using gemini 4.6 non bomb don't think its the image tho.

How old is your box, those freezes are new or were from the begining ?

Hi, its a second hand box and I've had problems from day one. first I needed a new power supply, then when I powerd up the box I noticed it was freezing when it was cold. I also had a problem switching from high to low frequency channels but this cleared up when I done a factory reset. I've been thinking about changing the image but it works better once it warms up, still freezes tho but not so often. Do you think a new image might help? gemini 4.7 or pli jade 3. Cheers mate!

If is not a clone try one, if it is just use one without time bomb, and see what happens, you have nothing to lose.

Any way it sounds to me like an hardware problem it could be a "cold connection". That may explain why is freezing before warm up.

Try to go to a mobile phone repair store they use hot air blowers to solve this issues

I think it is probably the box but because the factory reset fixed one problem it has put some doubt in my head. I will try a new image soon. can u recommend a program for installing a new image I've never done it before.

              1. For LAN flashing use Flash Wizard 6.3
              2. For Serial Port Flashing use DreamUP

For a beginer i strongly recommend first method

DM500 is stable with all well known images, but the best is gemini

power adaptors which comes with 500s are crappy. mostly electrolitic capacitors inside adaptor cause these problems. if you encounter problems like this first change your adaptor or change the electrolitic capacitors on your adaptors dc output stage.

first of all I suggset you to observe signal strenght levels during these freezes. do you see signal fluctuation during these freezes. do you see any BER errors. what is your exact equipment?(antenna, switch tc.)

He already told you that he changed the power supply, read the above posts

Hi,I've got a nice new psu but your right the one out of the box didn't even work. The only time the box freezes is when it's cold, well mostly when its cold once its warmed up it will last a couple of hours. Not getting any signal problems just total freeze have to reset at mains. I think its probably a dry joint or bad joint on the board some where, don't really fancy re doing them all cant see anything obvious.

Why you don't give a try to "hot air blow" method ?
