Wrong SecondStage

Hi, I flashed an image on my Dm800 and now at boot appears: ERROR CA.
I had a look on the web and I understood to have flashed a wrong second stage.
Is this correct?
Any help to solve the issue?

You used the wrong image.
Is your DREAMBOX 800 a clone or original?

Hi minoltista

No CA Error is cause by the 2nd stage bootloader becomming courpted by flashing a wrong image.

Try to reflash your box with a working image by using a patched version of Dreamup , a null modem cable and a ethernet network cable.

Here you can download the patched version of Dreamup as well as some usefull instructions.

Instructions

1. connect via serial using NULL Modem cable and Ethernet to ROUTER and pc

2. load patched version of dreamup, select your com port and then click connect and power on dm800

3. when initialised it will display http serial mode on lcd and show dhcp ip once ip is displayed dreamup as served its purpose and now its in flashmode

4. log into webshell on pc using the 192.168.x.*** address on LCD disply and flash as normal

If you still have problem, then it's better to try a special tool that is called NO CA FOUND Repair Tool , depending on the sim that your box has which you can find by simple search on the net.

Thank you. Anyway i obtain the following message: "file top big".maybe i do something wrong.

I found something on web but i need a second working DM.
Should i buy a new one?? :-)

Yes, I know the method with the second dreambox, but the problem is where to find a second box?

If you have a friend with a working dm800 you can solve your problem.

Did you follow all the steps of my instructions?
Are you sure that you use the appropriate image for your box?

Hi, just to give news about my story.
I managed to find a dm500s clone and even if I needed a dm800 or dm600 I wanted to try anyway.
Well, I followed the instructions contained in the zipped files i downloaded and...... YES!
My dm800hd works again! :-)

The wrong second stage I downloaded was from a "not serious" person that wanted to brick some devices.

Now I only use images from "trust" sites.

Btw,
the dm500s clone doesn't has 2nd stage bootloader or any other bootloader.

Obviously, you missed something during the procedure the first time but when you tried again you made it.

You are very probabily right. I was too nervous when I tried you procedure.
Anyway I'm very happy to have a working Dm800 clone again!

Well, here is the solution I found:

1) Connect working dreambox DM600/DM800.
2) Open dreamup, press connect.
3) When dreambox is found by dreamup, insert Null-Modem cable in
the broken dreambox.
4) Press flash button, and chose a firmware.
5) The flash progress will probably hang, its OK.
6) Open dreamup again, connect the broken box, press connect.
7) If all went ok, you can now flash box again, (Use only serial
communication)

As I told, instead of a DM600/DM800, I tried with a DM500s and worked fine.
