Recommended Commando Alternative

I've been running Commando 14.7 on my two clone DM500 units for some while. It's a really good image, I love the UI (styled on $ly HD scheme), the Auto Bouquets for 28.2e is a major time saver for UK users and the GetEPG function is awesome.

The one down side is audio sync. The longer you watch a channel the audio becomes more and more out of sync with the video. A channel zap resets the sync but it's only a temporary fix.

So, I'm looking for recommendations on an alternative image to use, preferable something that has/supports the same features and is easy/nice to use.

Also, as an added ideal, Commando only supports DM500 and does not support HD. If an alternative image also supports HD in case I upgrade that would the icing on the cake!

According to my experience you should give openli or nemesis a try - both are good and simple images. I have tried commando images a several times but they are more complicated to work. You cannot use HD images over dm500s - it only supports sd channels.

As @BlueIsMyColor said, you can't use a dm500s for HD channels.
Maybe you mean the dm500HD which is a HD receiver and can runs enigma2 images, but the little dm500s is an enigma1 receiver and can be used only for sd channels.

I don't know Commando images but I think that openpli or nemesis is a good choise.

Sorry, maybe I didn't explain that very well, I know that the DM500 is SD only... Commando 14.7 is only for the DM500, therefore you can't use Commando on any HD boxes. (I really like Commando but would like to upgrade to a HD receiver at some point so must find a new image).

What I was trying to say was please can you recommend any images that will work on a DM500 that also have a version that will work on other HD receivers.

Is it possible to run the AutoBouquets 28.2e and GetEPG on these other images?

You need to upgrade to Commando 15.0 its absolutely fantastic and has now many more features, AFAIAA there is not another Enigma1 image that has all the added extra's that Commando has in the image probably due to the fact Commando is based on Neutrino and not Enigma.

I tried Commando 15.0 on my spare clone DM500 (got a bit carried away on eBay and ended up with two! ) however it still has the audio sync problem (don't understand why this isn't being fixed) and worse still I find after a few hours the picture & audio goes all glitchy & stutters and you have to zap to fix it

Maybe I need to stump up some proper money and buy an HD receiver based on Enigma 2. If so, any images that offer similar functions to Commando on an HD platform?

A team that provides both enigma1 and enigma2 images is the openpli.

Of course the realising of enigma1 images for dm500s is stopped few months ago but you can find them and they are working ok.

The openpli, also announced that stops the actively supporting for dreamboxes but will continue with other receivers as vu+, Clarke Tech and Xtrend based on enigma1 and 2.

Until now, they generate images for dreamboxes but I believe that they have stopped the development.
