    How to Backup Tuner Configuration?

    Hello forum

I have many lnbs on my satellite project and the tuner configuration is a very hard job for me each time I flash my receiver. I have to spent about 30 min in order to setup 16 lnbs.

I use the advanced mode on my vu+solo2 due to multi lnbs and every time I setup the satellites manually, because VuCC or DCC can't do it right.

I tried many times to make a backup of my settings and then to reload it but without any success.

I use Vhannibal settings which I can load then successfully on my receiver but the tuner configuration settings remain black.

How can I make a backup from these settings?
Which file contains the tuner configuration settings?

Re: How to Backup Tuner Configuration?

    hi kalpikos,

well, i tell you my solution, wichi suit pretty well with my venerable dm500

    as the full os (
    - linux ( native bin, config, ...)
    - tuxbox ( service.xml, bouquet, ...)
    - var/bin, /var/etc, ...
    - www
    - and all the remainings

    is rather small (5Mb),

i decided to proceed a full comprehensive backup,
and i relinquished the idea of beeing fine at artistic incremental backups

this is direct, fast, short, easy, routine, and secure

    how to do this:

    - ftp client
    - integrated rsync from totalcommander or krusader

i personnaly avoid tar.gz, just by personnal convenience, but should also be mentionned.

    --
ps: pay attention not to backup

    - internal mounted hd ( /mnt/myhd , /var/mnt/myhd )
    - external mounted hd (/var/mnt/myexthd ) ( samba or nfs )

What image are you using? Everytime I flash my solo2 i simply reinstall settings from my backups, which includes the tuner configuration, bouquets, plugins, etc. This works with blackhole and my preferred image, Vix.

Re: How to Backup Tuner Configuration?

        Hi bokkie

So far, I have tried blackhole, vti and openpli 3 and 4.

I tried to reload my backup again and agian with all the above images but only my bouquets are appearing.
I make the backup with VuCC and I noticed that the files copied to my pc are from the enigma2 folder, the setellite.xml from the folder tuxbox and some cfg files from etc and var/keys.

Which file is responsible for tuner configuration?

Not sure mate. But the backup should be stored on your hdd or usb stick.
Try using the built in backup in the image menu.

            hi,

            ( as in my venerable dm500 e1 ...)

it's a simple question with such a delicate answer as the distribution of relevant directories:

            # --- tuner
            /var/tuxbox
            /var/tuxbox/mv
            /var/tuxbox/config
            /var/tuxbox/config/mv
            /var/tuxbox/config/mv/icons
            /var/tuxbox/config/gSUB
            /var/tuxbox/config/Cccamplug
            /var/tuxbox/config/enigma
            /var/tuxbox/config/enigma/boot
            /var/tuxbox/config/enigma/cable
            /var/tuxbox/config/enigma/fonts
            /var/tuxbox/config/enigma/skins
            /var/tuxbox/config/enigma/pictures
            /var/tuxbox/config/enigma/resources
            /var/tuxbox/config/enigma/terrestrial
            /var/tuxbox/config/tuxtxt
            /var/tuxbox/plugins

            # --- user's:addon.bin + config
            /var/bin
            /var/bin/etc
            /var/etc
            /var/script

Re: How to Backup Tuner Configuration?

No matter the enigma2 image you are using, the tuner configuration is stored in file "/etc/enigma2/settings".
All relevant entries are named config.Nims.*

Re: How to Backup Tuner Configuration?

Thank you gianni 253 and also all the members for their help.

I managed to found the file "settings" in enigma2 folder and I am sure that this file it was there in the backup that I was made, because I still have the backup folder that the vucc did.

I don't know why the tuner configuration are not restored correctly as the other settings did.
I'm pretty sure that the file it was together with the other files in my pc and I was sent it back to the box.
why I saw nothing in tuner configuration?

... usual linux file check list:

                  - the file exists ?
                  find /path

                  - the file owner is correct (root) ?
                  chown root:root /path/*

Try to check the value of entries I wrote, then make some changes in tuner configuration and recheck entries again ...
Just to know if these entries are actually storing your tuner config or your problem has a different origin.

Re: How to Backup Tuner Configuration?

Yesterday I flashed again my receiver and I tried to reload from my back up the settings for satellite configuration...but I didn't make it.

I tried again and again , to load the back up with VUU and manually with DCC, I tried to copy/paste only the piece which is for the satellites from "settings" in enigma2 folder but when the box reboots everything is gone.

                      What I make wrong?

Are your flashing the same Image or a different image?

Ussualy when reflash an image you must answer one question if you want bakup setings or not but but if not find why not instal from ts plugin ?

                            hello,

on my dm500 e1, the tunner config is located in

                            ftp://ipsat/var/tuxbox/config/enigma

when you say when the box reboots everything is gone

does that mean that the content of your e2 corresponding

                            /var/tuxbox/config/enigma

                            is flushed ?

Did you check if entries "config.Nims.*" in file /etc/enigma2/settings are actually the one you saved ?
Just to know if these entries have been successfully restored but they have no effect on tuner configuration.
