I think that the problem it's not the line because as @boffin said the box stucks and then he must power off the receiver in order to recover.

It happens on all chanels regardless of signal strength and S/N ratio.

It happens mostly before our favourite programs !!!

So, try first the easy way, that is flash openpli maxvar and follow instructions by kalpikos.
If you still can't install ccc*am via remote control, come back here and we'll give you instructions to install it manually.

I am busy with it now, at least this time I backed up the old image first..

Thanks guys, it went easy this time, the image had ccam 2.3 ( and another choice )

I have some extra programs to view now, and they all seem to lock on within a second or so, and there are none of the gaudy graphics I had before :-)

Thanks friend, but I am far too inexperienced to understand that !

I just need my dm to watch shows, I am sure there can be a lot of fun getting into satellites but I have too much on my hands now.

I used to be an operator at a NASA tracking station in the 60s, but it was a little different then :-)

if you trust a allin satbox distro,
you are supposed to endorse the legacy particularities,
including disfunctions and bugs ...

... just as if, you install fromclean and genuine pakages ...

Hi boffin

I suggest you to try again the openpli maxvar image from their official page.
It's very simple to install the cccam trough downloads.
First, you have to download the latest menu and then go to downloads and get the cccam 2.2.1 .
Then you have to create with the notepad on your pc, a black file named Cccam.cfg.
Use a ftp program as DCC to transfer this file in var/etc.
There you can put the line you have.

You can find emu's under software management - downloads - sofcams menu on openpli but first you must download latest menu. You must have channels list only for your sats.

Thanks, I did try that last time but couldnt find plug ins.

I will give it another go, the db just came on again for an hour, ( we saw our favourite show ) but when I tried to change chans it all went again.

Usually all images come without any emu.
And if you can't find emus in plugins menu, you have to add the so called "extra urls" (every image has it's own).
But you can also install ccc*am manually ...

My dm500s is getting more cantankerous , sometimes it loses all chans when I change programs ( it still gets the program info, but wont lock on.)
Sometimes I can switch off for a minute or ten and it will lock on again.
It happens on all chanels regardless of signal strength and S/N ratio.

It has always had a problem of sometimes needing to be powered off and on again when changing programs to get it to lock on.

I am using a Gemini image, and am thinking of trying a better one.
Pli used to work for me, but when I tried to download one last time, it didn't have the ccam and I couldnt add it manually.

Any suggestions for an image for my dm500s clone with ccam2.x ?

I checked the usual transistor in the voltage booster for the lnb switching, and the voltages are fine ).
