i have 2 dreambox, one dm7020 and a dm500. when i connect the dm500 the signal is 80%+ but on my dm7020 is only 70%max (same wire). so is the tuner of the dm500 better the the dm7020? the gift is on the dm7020 and i have a lot of freeze but i cannot move the gift on the dm500 to test if the freezing is because of the low signal. any other test i can do?

Re: low signal on a dm7020
Signal level can't be compared between two different receivers, because different tuners and drivers don't give the same result.
But you can easily tell if freezes depend on low signal or on the "gift" by looking to ecm times taking osd continuously on: if freezes are related to long ecm and they are synchronized with ecm request ... it's your gift's fault.
If pixellation is independent by ecm request, it's your weak tuner.

Re: low signal on a dm7020
It's normal to be a difference in the signal bar between them.
Different box, different image and even skin, can cause a significant difference in signal strength.
I don't think that dm500s has better tuner that dm7020.
You can install a skin in your box that can shows the signal bars of strength, quality and errors, so you can see if the freezes you have are from lost signal or from the bad quality of your line.
If the errors are very high, it's sure that you have signal problem. If You Like My Post..... Please Press the Thanks ButtonComment

Re: low signal on a dm7020
You can try the weaker transponders to see if the tuners have really different sensibility. Normally is possible to see the BER (Bit Error Rate) level in the info menu - the ideal value is zero. When this value is higher the problems are higher too.

Re: low signal on a dm7020
So those bar are not accurate. it was my fisrt bet. the problem is that when i used to have the previous gift from another server it was on the dm500 and all were great, no freezing (never!) and much more channels but now the gift sender tell me that it must be my receiver fault. can say for sure but that dm7020 give me some other troubles so far (getting hot etc) and now i found this (signal). cant wait for a new receiver but im waiting to see if some rumurs about iptv will come true.If my post was useful, please, use "Thanks" buttonComment

Re: low signal on a dm7020
Try to install another image in the dm7020 to see if there's some difference.

Oops... i forgot that little big detail. That gift is in one file? Is not possible to copy to your pc, install another image and paste in the box again?

Re: low signal on a dm7020
You can do another thing: change to an encrypted channel with good signal that is supposed to open with the "gift" and see if it works. If not, the problem is with the server.
If the BER is = 0 and you have less channels in dm7020, the tuners have different sensibility.
