How to keep 3G alive in DM500

Does anyone know of a way to keep your 3G connection alive in DM500?

It works fine during daytime, but around sunset and sunrise it goes dead frequently. When you start a download on dBox 3G starts again.

      Hi mate

Maybe the problem is when your box is on standby mode and losts the connection.
There is an ortion in the router to either stay connected always, disconnect when traffic ceases (idle) or disconnect after a set period of time when idle.
You can search for this in the router and fix it.

Or put a simple ping command every 30 minutes in crontab (remember to put ping number parameter otherwise ping command never ends ...)

You say connection go dead around sunset and sunrise, maybe its time when your router change ip and your box cant connect automatly.Check dhcp in your box or check ,,Always use same ip adress" in your router if u have that option.

I have dinamic connection so it changes, but DHCP should compensate for that. I have also set the router Max Idle time to 0 which means it should never go off. Normal ping does not bring it back to life, but entering a webpage in PC browser sometimes does. Daytime and nightime ECM values are the same when it does connect in off period so internet speed should also not be the problem.

So, at the place of ping, you can try with wget command, i.e. the command that retrieves a file or html page from web.

                P.S.
I see you wrote in your first post that a download starts connection again, so wget should definitely work.

                  SOLUTION:

Make sure your primary as well as your secondary DNS Servers in 3G dialup are enabled. It is an option with most 3G routers and default is Not Enabled.
