Re: Estar DM 800 se HDD problem
Can you elaborate further about reasons ? (interface, power requirements etc. etc. )

Re: Estar DM 800 se HDD problem
Take esata cable and test it.
If you still have problem try it with external power.
@gianni253
yes, sata3 is backward compatible to sata2 and sata1 but with limitations on speed.Leave a comment:

sata3 is backward compatible with sata2.
Of course, limitations of sata2 transfer rate will apply.Leave a comment:

Re: Estar DM 800 se HDD problem
I think that the problem is the sata.
The wd VelociRaptor is not recognized by the dreambox,
because is a new disk with SATA3.
Dreambox support sata, but maybe has some problem recognizing sata3 disk.
So, either your disk (on the drembox must work as simple sata) or the box have an issue with that.
WD Scorpio Blue
Average power requirements (W)
Read/Write - 1.6
Idle - 0.65
Standby and Sleep - 0.20
WD VelociRaptor
Average power requirements (W)
Random Read/Write - 5.1
Sequential Read/Write - 5.8
Idle - 4.2
Standby and Sleep - 1.1
Next step ,when i receive esata cable ,i will check VelociRaptor with esata + external power.Leave a comment:

Re: Estar DM 800 se HDD problem
VelociRaptor still not working,on DM. with any file system . on pc,all ok.
hdd from pc working ok,on dm with NTFS . ext2 -3 not tested,on this hdd.
so i think, for VelociRaptor need more power.Leave a comment:

Re: Estar DM 800 se HDD problem
- hd VelociRaptor is ok
- receiver's sata interface is ok
- it's not a file system problem (you tried them all)
... it can only be a power supply issue.
Try to provide external power supply !Leave a comment:

Re: Estar DM 800 se HDD problem
great !
that means you're directly successfull with another hdd but not the WD VelociRaptor HDD ?
for info, and because it might be helpful for future need,
i'd like to know if your hdd device is visible through the command
ls -l /dev/sd*
- the mount point
df
mount
- and the file system recognized by your dm
thxLeave a comment:

Re: Estar DM 800 se HDD problem
Hi mate
Maybe firstly you have to format the hd in another pc in linux format and try it again in the dreambox.
As for the power issue...
yes, clones have power problems.
You can try to hear if the disk spin-up when you turn on the power.
If you can't hear something, try to use an extrenal power supply as other mate said.Leave a comment:

Re: Estar DM 800 se HDD problem
hi,
open a console session onto your dm800 with telnet,
1. plug in your disk ( without external power supply | with + common ground )
2. list hard disks:
root@dreambox> ls -rl /dev/sd*
brw-rw---- 1 root disk 8, 17 Jun 26 11:20 /dev/sdb1
brw-rw---- 1 root disk 8, 16 Jun 26 11:20 /dev/sdb
brw-rw---- 1 root disk 8, 9 Jun 26 11:20 /dev/sda9
brw-rw---- 1 root disk 8, 8 Jun 26 11:20 /dev/sda8
brw-rw---- 1 root disk 8, 7 Jun 26 11:20 /dev/sda7
brw-rw---- 1 root disk 8, 6 Jun 26 11:20 /dev/sda6
brw-rw---- 1 root disk 8, 5 Jun 26 11:20 /dev/sda5
brw-rw---- 1 root disk 8, 2 Jun 26 11:20 /dev/sda2
brw-rw---- 1 root disk 8, 1 Jun 26 11:20 /dev/sda1
brw-rw---- 1 root disk 8, 0 Jun 26 11:20 /dev/sda
3. check the format of your disk (ntfs, ext3, ... )
4. try to mount it manuallyLeave a comment:
