    Dream Multimedia has declared Bankruptcy

On June 2013, Dream Multimedia declared Bankruptcy, as called in USA, Chapiter 11. End of a Dream story.

that means Goliath project is also done.

Unfortunately, we could expect that because there was a mysterious silenece around Dream Multimedia. There was no developing since they released 7020 HD. And it was about 1 and a half year ago. Since then, there was no new receiver released.

What is the future of dreambox sat receivers?

Original dreambox are way overpriced, and whilst they are hugely popular on the sat scene, it is largely down to the clones from china. Clones outsell originals by a long way and dmm's attitude with their pricing structure could be their downfall.
Vu+ moved in on the market with quality products at much more affordable prices, which is why vu+ is now king of the hill.
Even the cloners could only shave about £80 off the cost of an original vu+ duo or solo.

I don't know what will be with dreambox sat receivers in the future. I think this could happen because there were lots of clon receivers.

I bet the clone manufacturers are happy. If indeed dmm ceases to trade will clones become the new originals?

I think that if dmm ceases to release new receivers, there will be nothing to be cloned. Therefore, clone manufacturers will get into bankruptcy, too.

I don't think so, some Chinese company will buy the name and they will become
                  original Dreambox makers.

Not really new. First time messages from 2005.

It was only a metter of time. The next part came two years ago:

"Multimedia Labs GmbH, Mönchengladbach, Ueddinger Straße 176, 41066 Mönchengladbach. Durch Beschluss des Amtsgericht Mönchengladbach (20 IN 19/11) vom 17.05.2011 wurde das Insolvenzverfahren eröffnet. Die Gesellschaft ist damit kraft Gesetzes aufgelöst. Von Amts wegen eingetragen."

Translated: ~ Bankruptcy official declared (in 2011)

It was only a part, but the next one followed...

Re: Dream Multimedia has declared Bankruptcy

There were several rumors about Dream Multimedia and Chapter 11 (declaring Bankruptcy) in the last days.
We have to wait untill there comes something official.

Re: Dream Multimedia has declared Bankruptcy

it is a bad news if it is true.
There is more competition in the market for satellite television receivers. Which make the profits of companies in this sector lowers.
Then there are new improvements in this sector. For example the IP-lnb.
I think they slept like Nokia in the mobile phone sector.

They don't need new receivers released to carry on cloning.
They already sell clone receivers by the truckload, so can just carry on doing as they are thereby becoming the only place to buy a breambox.
Why would the cloners go Into bankruptcy?

                              Keep cool!

1.) Untill now there are only rumors (ok, lots of rumors in the last month...)
2.) Nothing on official homepage untill now
3.) If true, in germany the bankruptcy process has changed a few years ago (1998) into the "insolvenz-process". It's first target is to rescue the company and it's jobs. Several companies have successfull restarted after a successfull insolvenz-process.
