Dreambox + Arabsat/FTA Channels

Can a dreambox 500s be configured to receive FTA channels specifically those on Arabsat or Nilesat or I need another receiver that is specically designed to receive these channels

Fta channels are just that, fta. No configuring would be needed other than maybe your channel list.

That would mean all the tech chaps that keep saying you need a new receiver just are out to make a buck. Because they always insist on another receiver.

An enigma 2 receiver would have a lot of advantages over your dm500, but it'll be fine if you want to view fta channels.

as said here above: no need for another receiver ; but you need to be sure these sats (Arabsat or Nilesat) are withing your reich of reception where you live , you can eg check with satbeams or so to have an idea of reception and size of dish needed.
