sky dish with dreambox

hello all i would like some advice as to what are my best options,ive just got a dm500s and connected it to my sky dish(i will be installing a bigger dish soon)but for now would like to know what i can get out of this existing setup i have a paid sky subscription but only the basic package and ive heard/read that there is certain ways to get more,could someone explain this to me the box has pll jade image and one of the problems im having is when i read the setup guides the menu in these guides is not the same menu on the box so i kinda get lost ive got dcc on the pc is there any other software i need also if i moved the dish to astra 19e would i still pick up sky channels sorry im a complete newbie but find it interesting anyhow many thanks in advance

as newbie, I suggest you do some reading here (especially sections dreambox, cardsharing, cccam) - basically an option is to get a cline (see satlover free ones on your top screen right) - then you can start playing - about sky: sky uk is on Astra 2 (28E), on Astra 1 (19E) there's eg sky germany ; sky italy is on hotbird 13E - for more info: check lyngsat or king of sat to check which packages are on which sat. Hope I helped you getting started where to look.

thank you for your rapid reply,ive looked into this cardshare but im struggling as to how i put lines in it goes right over my head im trying to learn and have to say its quiet interesting but i get lost a bit with the tutorials cheers

Hello mate and welcome

As, @pan1100 said, you have to start reading in our forum.
There are many that you have to learn.

The user manual of the 500s have instructions for the original image of dreambox.
You have installed a different image, called pli jade.
Both of them are linux images and don't have many differences.
Maybe menu is a little different , but they have common functions.

As about the dish...
Tell us first, you dish size.
you propably receive Astra 28.2E something different from Astra 19E.

You will need to do some serious reading to get to know the ins and outs of your box, by which time you should have already tried some of satlovers's free servers. After you become pretty confident with the linux side as you say you have a Sly basic package which you could use to join in with the CCcam exchange section and broaden your horizons even more.

You might also think about using an ftp program for changing files through your box. There are plenty free available. But keep checking through the various tutorials and you will enjoy this hobby.
