    editing CCcam in etc.ini

You guys kindly helped me fix up my blown DM500 yesterday, and I even fixed up the power supply that caused the trouble ( 3 capacitors had dried out, I replaced them and drilled some ventilation holes in the box )

I have downloaded several images, but I want to edit the CCcam.cfg file, but when I look at all the files, there is the same file in var' and var/flash and var/ ini

but it wont let me edit the one in the ini folder.

I have done it a couple of years back, but I think it was with Firefox ftp fire, which I have downloaded again , but cant get to show in the tools menu.

I dont mind which image I use, I just need one I can edit the CCam.cfg file.

    Any suggestions ?

Not to clued up on dm 500, but can't you just create your own CCcam.cfg file in notepad and ftp it to your stb, overwriting the existing one?

      In enigma 1 path to CCcam.cfg /var_flash/etc/CCcam.cfg
I use to TotalCommander to ftp.
      Use OpenPli to DM500 _h**p://openpli.org/download/dm500-maxvar/

thats what I did 2 years ago, but I cant seem to sort out the ftp this time.

I downloaded DCC but dont understand it ( partly because its in German :-) ) but I dont know enough about ftp.

When I try to modify the version in var/ini it tells me I dont have permission - its my computer for heavens sake !! :-)

Get another copy of DCC, mine is in english by BernrR and I use all the time on my dm500.
You could try editing the configuration file in Dcc and set the language in system to language=1, thats what mine is.
My CCcam.cfg is in var/etc and thats what I edit, right click on it and choose edit.

I can edit the file in var/etc but it seems before then it has copied the old file to /flash and / ini ?

Perhaps I should try another voersion of Pli?

Upload image OpenPli to your box.
Log in to the box via ftp to the root account.
              Upload a new file CCcam.cfg to /var_flash/etc/
              or
You are logged in as root by telnet or ssh (cmd or putty). Go to /var_flash /etc/ and start using vi CCcam.cfg and edit the file.

                Hello my friend

                Use this version of DCC

                dcc296.rar
                Code:
                http://www.herosh.com/download/11087021/dcc296.rar.html
When you established a connection with your box, go to var/etc
There you can find your cccam.cfg to edit.

If you dont already have dowloaded the cccam.cfg in these folder, you can create with a notepad.
                Then you can edit.

It wouldnt work for me if I created a file cccam.cfg, it needed to be CCcam.cfg.

You can also change the language in the dropdown menu on the main configuration page.

You need to save any CCcam.cfg file that you have edited. Go to file, save and exit.

@ kalpikos thanks that DCC seems to work ( although I am not too sure what I am doing :-) )

                        I am still trying.

Ok the DCC seems to be working, I flashed open beta PLi maxvar, now I will play around with it ( about 8 minutes a time ! )

                          Yes, Yes, yes

                          Im sorry

The right file name is CCcam.cfg and not cccam.cfg

I always download this file in my box, so I made a mistake in spelling

I am missing something here, ( I am very green about networking ) I have flashed many different Pli and openPli images, but I want ( for educational purposes ) to edit the CCcam.cfg file.

I edit the file with my older version and save it with DCC but no luck after rebooting.

I used to be able to enter my dreambox ip address followed by :16001 and be able to see various info about the servers, but it just doesn't show anything now, it just times out.

I can see the gui if I just enter the ip.

A mate tried his and he saw that it says that its CCcam 2.2.1 thats bringing this service, ( the 16001 bit ) but all the sketches I can down load are using CCcam 2.3?

I had an old Jade image and CCcam2.2 before the crash, and it was working fine, and I could get a list of servers.

If I download a later version image, is there a way I can install CCam 2.2.1 ? if this is what is needed?

                              @boffin
Log in to the box as root. Enter
                              find / -name CCcam.cfg
This command will find all CCcam.cfg file in your box.
I think you upload the file CCcam.cfg in the wrong place.
